**Lead Packager**

**Position Summary:**

Epmar Corporation, a Quaker Houghton Company located in Whittier, CA is currently seeking a Lead Packager to add to their growing team. The Lead Packager will perform tasks involved in the production of Epmar Corporation products. This includesfilling, packaging and palletizing Paint and Coatings according to written specifications. All Packagers must follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe. Under the direction of the Packaging Supervisor, the Lead Packager will also coordinate the daily tasks and assignments of packaging colleagues.

**Job Accountabilities:**

* Coordinates daily supervision with the Packaging Supervisor, directing packaging colleagues in daily tasks and assignments. May act as a back-up for the Packaging Supervisor when required.

* Competencies of Packager II training and task knowledge to perform day to day operations of and assistance to the Packaging Supervisor.

* Demonstration of leadership abilities to train and mentor packaging colleagues. Ensure that all work is done in a safe manner and appropriate personal protective equipment is being utilized.

* Must be able to work with other departments within Epmar/Quaker Houghton.

* Must be fully compliant with diversity and inclusion as it applies to current, future or potential colleagues.

* Proficient at all Packager II requirements.

* Proficient at higher level of equipment operations and tasks. This includes the set up and operation of the Automated Acid Stain filling line, the Neuralog Label Printer, Gallon & Quart can label applicator, forklifts, stretch wrap machine and the operations of the case taping equipment.

* Recommends process changes based on experience and historical data.

* Demonstrates safe work practices.

* Read fill sheets and performs work as assigned by Production & Packaging Supervisor(s).

* Sets up filling equipment, scales and containers at various production points.

* Labels or stencils containers as specified.

* Operates valves and other controls on production equipment.

* Follows through with customer specifications on work orders, filling finished product into various packaging units.

* Notifies supervisor of any safety, mechanical or product quality related issues.

* Maintains a clean and safe workplace.

* Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

* All packaging colleagues are expected to be available to work in all areas of production and cross train as needed.

**Work Environment/EHS Responsibilities:**

Candidate must be comfortable working in a factory environment which could involve standing, walking and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Must be able to lift 50 pound containers and palletize 500 pound drums. The environment in the factory can reach extreme heat in the summer and mild cold in the winter.

**Education, Experience, Skills & Competencies:**

Key Education or Certification Required

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Advanced education or skilled training preferred.

Required Minimum Number of Years of Relevant Experience

Must have at least 3+ years prior experience working as a packager or in a similar role in a factory environment. Preferred experience in a Lead role.

Required Skills and Competencies

* Requires strong basic math skills

* Must be able to work as part of a team

* Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently

* Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
